The house of salads ? From the U.S. to Hong Kong

Applegreen is the house for salads, spaghetti and flatbreads, which are influenced by the unique cafe culture of California. Their wild mushroom salad with grilled mixed mushrooms, semi-dried tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette and romaine lettuce is one of my favorites there. If you plan to have a salad on your own, order the half-size. I ordered a full-size salad with avocado (an additional HK$20/US$2.50) before and could not finish it at all. It is a great portion for sharing. You can also build your own salads with the ingredients you like, rather than going through the hassle of telling the server to take out the cheese, meat and eggs from a standard salad and ask to put in the green peppers, onions or pine nuts instead.

The American culture of the restaurant penetrates through the drink menu as well. You seldom see free refills of drinks in Hong Kong restaurants unless it?s American. One of the few exceptions is the Nordic restaurant and bar FINDS, which they offer free flow of soft drinks and beers with their weekly updated daily set lunches and Nordic signature lunches. What actually caught my eyes on this Applegreen drink menu was the slushy section that highlights non-dairy drinks with flavors such as pineapple mint, strawberry and mango. It?s good to see that they understand there are people who are lactose-intolerant or prefer not to take dairy because of religion and other reasons.

The restaurant scores a place under my ?vegan-friendly restaurant? tab. Thank you for making the ordering process a breeze for vegetarians and vegans.
